Grilled Chicken Souvlaki with Greek Yogurt Sauce
Ingredients:
- 500 gr. chicken breasts
- juice of one lemon
- 6 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 clove garlic, chopped or 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons dill spice (or fresh)
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 chopsticks
Greek yogurt sauce:
- 1 cup (one small package) Greek yogurt or sour cream
- a few sprigs of finely chopped parsley
- juice of 1 lemon
- 1 teaspoon cumin (spice)
Method of preparation:
- Chop the chicken into small pieces (as for skewers) and add to a large deep bowl.
- Add all the other ingredients and stir for each piece to be covered and topped with the marinara.
- Cover the chicken dish and leave it in the refrigerator to sit for at least 2 hours, ideally overnight. The longer it is marinated – the more intense the taste will be.
- Arrange the pieces of meat on the sticks.
- Heat a grill pan over medium heat and add a little oil.
- When the oil is hot, add the sticks and grill for 7-10 minutes on each side.
- For the Greek yogurt sauce, add all the ingredients in a small deep bowl, stir until combined and if necessary add a little oil or water to dilute.
- Serve hot or refrigerate for up to 5 days. If not served immediately, then store the sauce in a separate bowl from the souvlaki.
