Kid-Friendly Honey Nut Cereal Bars that Melt in Your Mouth

Published

on

I made these honey nut cereal  bars specifically for my kids, they love snacking on some kid-friendly bars from the store, but I wanted a home-made alternative to them.

And I definitely succeeded because just the mention of these bars makes them come running to the kitchen and eat a lot of them!

Due to the nuts and honey these bars are suitable for children aged 1 year and above!

The good thing about these cereal is that you can store them in the freezer for a long time.

I got about 25 bars from the dose of ingredients listed below, however it is individual and will depend on how thin you make them and how big you want them to be. However you get a nice amount that can last and be a great snack for both you and your children.

Kid-Friendly Honey Nut Cereal Bars

Servings 25

Ingredients

  • 12 tbsp mix of 4 types of flakes (oats, rye, barley and wheat) if you do not have you can do only with oats
  • 3 tbsp wheat germ
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp nut butter (I used hazelnut butter)
  • 2 tbsp cocoa butter (or 3 tbsp. coconut oil)
  • 2-3 tbsp water (or juice of a lemon or orange)

Instructions

  • Put the flakes and germ in a blender, and blend until it becomes flour. Then mix all the other ingredients in a deep bowl and stir the mixture well. Cocoa butter must be liquid, so melt it at a low temperature. If you do not have cocoa butter, use melted coconut oil.
  • When the mixture is well combined (you need to make a big ball), put it on baking paper and put another layer of paper on top. Try to pull out a thin crust with a rolling pin. Then remove the layer of paper from the top and cut rectangular bars with a knife.
  • Store them in the refrigerator, but at first do not stack them on top of each other, first let them tighten and then you can put them in a smaller container on top of each other. If you are not waiting for them to tighten, put a small piece of baking paper between each bar.

Now is the perfect time to stop buying those candy bars from the store with loads of amounts of sugar, and make these natural honey nut cereal bars everyone will love!
