This energizing matcha smoothie is made with just a few ingredients, tastes amazing, and will energize your body in the morning and get you started for the day.

It is made from ground green tea leaves, so you consume the whole leaf. The flavor of the green tea is stronger and it is richer in anti-oxidants.

  • In some studies on rats,  green tea was shown to slow the growth of cancer cells, and it was shown to help with lung cancer and skin cancer as well

Matcha has a strong flavor so you can consume it with different fruits like mangoes, frozen bananas, pineapples, ginger, etc. Your options are not limited, so get creative and find your favorite recipe!

When it comes to caffeine, 1/2 teaspoon of matcha contains around 35 mg of caffeine which is the same amount of a 200 gram cup of green tea.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water (or any plant-based milk)
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/4 avocado
  • 1 cup frozen mango chunks
  • 1/2 inch ginger (peeled)
  • 1 handful baby spinach
  • 1/2 tsp matcha powder

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients into a blender and pulse on high until smooth and creamy. If too thick, add more water according to your taste. Adjust the sweetness by adding a little bit of honey or a pitted date.
